Transformation Life Center

 
 

Transformation Life Center (TLC) was founded in 1984 by New York City Pastor and evangelist, Tom Mahairas. Tom's apartment was frequently filled with addicts who had come to the Lord for salvation--salvation from sin and drug addiction. Tom saw the need for a place away from the distractions of the city where men with addictions could heal.

The purpose of TLC is to "Transform Men to Transform the World." The great hope in this purpose comes from Scripture--"...do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." Romans 12:2 (NIV) for "...if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone and the new has come!" II Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)

Renewing the mind involves:

  1. •Facing our mistakes

  2. •Owning our bad choices

  3. •Learning to understand ourselves

  4. •Learning to understand others

  5. •Learning to make right choices

  6. •Instilling new principles to live by


We believe that Scripture provides the foundation necessary for renewed lives. The evidence is in the scores of changed lives--men who have graduated from the TLC program and gone on to transform the world as demonstrations of Christ's transforming power.

 

Transformation Life Center (TLC) provides services of care by demonstrating the love of Christ to men with life-controlling issues. TLC is a discipleship program that maintains an atmosphere which fosters and nurtures the spiritual life of residents so they will come to know Christ and one day, by the Spirit, make Christ known to others. This is accomplished with a structured experience where residents work together to produce Christ-like character, wholesome attitudes, and a stable lifestyle.
